Welcome to our club. “Hills District” has been operating in the Hills region for thirty eight years, and is one of the largest and most successful branches of the Calisthenic Association of Western Australia. Our base is the Darling Range Sports College (previously Forrestfield Senior High School) and most of our classes are held in the school gymnasium. In recent years we have conducted our “Twinkle Toes” (beginner) classes in High Wycombe at the new Community Centre.
Classes for the younger sections are held Saturday mornings with Intermediate classes Monday evenings and Seniors on Tuesday evenings. Our older Sub-Junior class (Sub-Junior 1/2) and Junior section usually commence second training in second term on a week night in preparation for competitions.
Suited to participants from three years of age,”Cali” as it is referred to, is a combination of several disciplines, including simplified ballet, gymnastics, marching,
rod drills, club swinging, folk and modern dance including singing. All of these are set to music and choreographed with artistry to develop flexibility, strength, grace, poise and confidence. Participants perform on stage in teams in their age groups at competitions and presentation events.
Hills is an ‘A’ grade club with dedicated coaches led by Karen Quinn who has been at the helm of the coaching group since the club’s inception in 1977. All coaches are qualified and accredited in accordance with Australian Sporting Commission requirements.
We pride ourselves on our family ethos and have a fabulous support group of parents and friends. Hills participants currently range from 3 to 27 years of age. We welcome new members of all ages to join in – the first lesson is free.
