THE HILLS DISTRICT CALISTHENICS CLUB
2024 “HILLS” TERM FEES
Term fees have been calculated for 2024 to include 2nd trainings, stage practice, holiday trainings, *fundraising levy, association roster levy and a portion of costume account estimates per term. Should adjustments be warranted, they will appear on Term Four accounts.
FUNDRAISING
The Hills District Calisthenics Club as a non profit organisation relies heavily on Fundraising and Parent involvement. To facilitate all Club Members being actively involved in fundraising, a Fundraising Levy OR Fundraising Option has been introduced.
CLUB UNIFORMS
Red, Black and White are our club colours. We currently stock three jackets as our ‘Official’ uniform, one a red “hoodie”, our new black, red and white jacket and the other the original red, white and black jacket, either to be worn together with black track pants at competitions. We also stock polo shirts, rugby jumpers and club bags with most items also available to parents and supporters. We are trialling a new polo shirt which should be available to club members early in 2024.
COSTUMES
Costume Hire: Most of the costumes the girls will be wearing for Competitions and at the Club Concert are owned by the club. This greatly reduces the cost of costumes to parents. A hire fee is levied for each costume worn by each girl. This fee helps with the maintenance, retrimming and replacing of costumes.
Fancy Costume: There will be one fancy item costume required per year. This costume will normally be paid for and owned by the parents, the cost varying according to the type of item chosen by the coach. However, we do try to keep the cost at a minimum. Costumes will be made under the guidance of the Costume Designer/Wardrobe Mistress.
CALISTHENIC ITEMS
Calisthenics teaches six (6) different disciplines. All work is carried out in teams – normally from 8 – 16 girls. The routines are choreographed to music and are intended to develop coordination, flexibility, grace, deportment, team work and confidence. The following description of each discipline may assist you to understand our sport.
- FREE EXERCISES: Choreographed exercises using smart arm and footwork combined with gymnastic movements set to music. Aimed at developing strength and flexibility of the body.
- ROD EXERCISES: The girls use an aluminium rod which is cut to the correct length. The rod is manipulated while performing similar movements to those done in free exercise. Rod work is patterned to show artistic ability and precision. A unique aspect of Calisthenics which improves coordination, control and balance.
- CLUB SWINGING: Also unique to Calisthenics. Two wooden clubs are swung in unison to the beat of the music. Intended to develop rhythm, coordination, control and deportment.
- AESTHETIC Simplified ballet movements set to music intended to develop grace, elegance, poise and use of expression.
- DEPORTMENT MARCH Creation of various patterns while marching. Aimed at developing and strengthening deportment, poise and body discipline.
- FANCY ITEMS: Only one fancy item is performed each year – on rotation basis. The items included in the rotation are as follows;
- Character Folk
- Song/s with Movement
- Song and Dance
- Calisthenics Spectacular
- Rhythmic Interpretation (Intermediates and Seniors only)
- Dance Arrangement (Intermediates and Seniors only)
- Stage Medley (Sub-Junior and Juniors)
- Cali Revue This item is less disciplined than the others and is usually the ‘fun’ item for the girls.
COSTUMES
As mentioned previously the club owns most of the costumes that will be worn by the girls at competitions. With so many teams to outfit we are constantly replacing or revamping leotards. Your help is needed to assist the Costume Designers with this task and busy bees may be arranged throughout the year so that all costumes can be completed in plenty of time for competitions. It will be at these days that the Costume Designers will give guidance for your daughter’s “fancy item” costume of which the cost is the parent’s responsibility.
